Excellent Primer on Georgia-Russia

Link.

There’s a war going on?!?!?  Wouldn’t know it with the coverage its been getting in the MSM.

Phelps going for 8 gold medals or Russia-vs-Georgia 2: With a Vengence.  Only one makes exciting television.

Greg Norman Pulled A Greg Norman

What a shock!

Vegas baby, Vegas!

My connection from Vegas to O’Hare got cancelled, so me and Brendan got to spend the night in Vegas on United.  Great times!

In other news, my trip was fantastic.  Pictures to come…

Take 3!!!

Pickens Plan

Interesting stuff.

I guess Boone can’t give away all of his money to OSU…

Weekend in LA

Last week Brendan sent me a link, and the next thing I knew… I was planning a trip to LA to see The Who get rock honoured by Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Flaming Lips, Tenacious D, and Incubus.

Itinerary
Saturday
- Buffalo -> Chicago -> LA
- The Who

Sunday
- Live, Collective Soul, and Blues Traveler

Monday
- LA -> Vegas -> Chicago -> Buffalo

Obviously, random tourist stuff like the Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Sign, In ‘n Out Burger, Pauley Pavillion, and the Walk of Fame are also on the agenda.

I’m pumped.  The past 3 weeks are exactly what I wanted from my summer, I just wish I kept going on trips after I got back from Europe…

Canada Day in Ottawa?

Love the random roadtrips!

3G iPhone

Well then…. with 3G capabilities and a new low price, I might have to accept my future as a yuppie.

$200 iPhone vs $500 N95.  The battle is a lot more even now.

Random Thoughts in My Head

  • For the second time in just over a year, I’m amazing at how I lived so long without a laptop.  Last year was my first laptop ever and this year the absence was a grueling 2 months.
  • I’ve already started looking for a place in Chicago once I move out of corp housing in November.  Talking to people and researching a bit has led me to conclude that Lincoln Park is the perfect area for me.
  • Close to work- Check
  • Ability to get to work without transferring on the El - Check
  • Close to a college library (for CFA and SOA studying) – Check
  • Decently trendy (lesson learned from living in the Docklands) – Check
  • Close to major sport stadiums / arenas – Check
  • Ability to see penguins at any time I wish – Check
  • Recently got a credit card offer from CIBC for the Aeroplan Gold Card.  $120 annual fee, but I get 15,000 Aeroplan points (enough for a roundtrip from ORD to YYZ) for using my card.  What’s there to lose?  I should really read the fineprint.
  • I’m looking at buying a smartphone, most likely the Nokia N95; it’s a shame that no provider in the States offers it.  Here’s hoping somebody picks it up, or I’ll have to settle for an iPhone (*shudder*), AT&T Tilt, or a Blackberry 8820.

Tales from the Loo

I’m sitting at a table in the Dana Porter library doing my Asset-Liability Mgmt assignment.  Seems pretty normal, right?

Well, I got this table by asking an Asian gentleman who was previously sitting here if it was alright that I joined him.  As only half the table’s surface area was being utilized, I figured that he wouldn’t mind and his verbal reply confirmed this.

Right after I took out my newly fixed Macbook (SivjiNote: yay!), he started packing up his stuff to leave.  I told him that I could leave if he wasn’t comfortable with me being here, but he told me that he was going anyways and quickly left.

I don’t think I’m ever going to get over how anti-social this school is.
