Random Thoughts in My Head

For the second time in just over a year, I’m amazing at how I lived so long without a laptop.  Last year was my first laptop ever and this year the absence was a grueling 2 months.

I’ve already started looking for a place in Chicago once I move out of corp housing in November. [...]

[Title]

I couldn’t find a travel buddy for a four month adventure so I decided to spend my summer in Waterloo soaking up the student life before the real world begins.
I’ve enrolled in some pretty interesting classes (Econometrics, Chem 123, Astronomy, German 101, and Philosophy) and am looking forward to my first math-free term since OAC*.
So [...]

401Ks, TN Visas, and Deep Dish Pizzas

I accepted an offer to work fulltime for an actuarial consulting firm in Chicago.  I’ll be working with the Capital Markets team doing a bunch of different things.  Should be a great experience and I can’t wait to start.
Speaking of which, I’m most likely going to start work in October-ish.  I’m looking for something to [...]

Long Overdue Update

A lot of people are getting on my back about not updating.  One post in the past 2 months is pretty bad so here goes nothing.
How should I structure this?  Should I just write about what I did, what I’m thinking… ahh, lets do all of the above in point-form to make things easier.  Go [...]

Updating the ole blog…

- University of Waterloo 2006 Salary Disclosure (also available for: 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000). Everybody can thank Ontario’s Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act for making such breaches of privacy possible.
- I finally installed the Gallery script on my server and gallery.alysivji.com is open for business.
- Windows XP on my Macbook is running quite smoothly.  [...]

Made the switch

I’m posting from my new Macbook and damn, don’t it feel good.
I’m actually sorta liking OS X, but I’m still gonna primary boot into windows so that should be good times.

Tidbits

- I decided to buy a Macbook and will be placing my order sometime within the next 2-3 days.  I never thought I’d buy a Mac, but I plan on primary booting into either Vista or XP so its not like I’m really making any sort of switch.  Bootcamp for the win!  At least I’ll [...]

RosenSivji & GuildenDerek/DerekCrantz & SivjiStern

Just came back from seeing KWLT’s production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
Got cheap tickets from Eric Logan, who happened to be playing Tragedian #3.  All in all, it was a good production of a great play.
Speaking of plays, I totally forgot how much I love all this ‘cultural’ jazz (and, yes, KWLT does qualify as culture in Waterloo).  I [...]

Europe get ready… Sivji is coming!

UW’s co-op system finally came through for me as I landed an offer for what can only be described as my dream job. I will be heading “cross the pond” to work for an investment bank in London as a Fixed Income Trading Intern. I’m gonna try to leverage this four month co-op into a [...]
