Math Elective aren’t fun…
[SivjiNote: This post is to remind me to never do a class that I don't need or won't enjoy...]
…especially STAT 330: Mathematical Statistics. I have no idea how I convinced myself that doing a theory-based Stats course would be useful, but I drank that kool-aid and ate the bowl.
Well, I’ve ventured far enough into this theory-based wasteland and now its back to Computational Math core courses + interesting electives for me!
My next term is looking at like:
- CM 462 / STAT 442 Data Visualization
Applications of statistics with one of my favourite professors. I can’t wait to start…!
- CM 452 / AMATH 452 Computational Methods for PDEs
The ODEs version of this course was really interesting and useful so I hope this continues in the trend of Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg and Adams-Bashforth goodness/easiness.
- CS 338 Databases
I guess I should learn about DBs one of these days…
- Maybe an elective. Most likely one of Technical Writing, Genetics, Spanish, or French…
Oh yeah, and one more thing… I’ll be on a plane to England at this time next week so I’m very much looking past my last final… International Econ? psst… Better things await!!!
I also got my reading list for work… and I’m already contemplating cutting back on my travel plans. Next term will be fun, but it will also hurt.

CS 338 isn’t the most fun course you could take, but I’m glad I took it. As a result, I used a DB to track euchre stats, and did some pretty neat stuff with them. Just watch out if you have Eddie Chan…if you do, bring a pillow.
