London-ism #34381

Short explanation: London + Sivji-ism = London-ism.
Yesterday, Andrew (one of my roommates) and I hit up Asda (aka the British Walmart) to stock up on snacks and supplies.  Since we bought way too much stuff, we decided to wheel our shopping cart home…. big mistake.
British shopping carts have sensors which automatically lock one of the [...]

It’s the little things you notice and miss

I laid down 25 pence after getting a drink at the pub and got the strangest look.
British Rando #1: “What’s that for?”
Sivji: “Uh…. the tip.”
British Rando #1: “You can take it back”
Sivji: “O….k….”
So I guess they don’t tip in England…

I opened a bank account with Barclays and apparently I will be getting my debit card in the mail.  [...]

EuroSivji: Day 1

First things first… pictures are up.
I arrived in London around 8:30 this morning.  One thing I learned: I’m not made to sit down in a plane for 7 straight hours.  Not to mention that I probably had the worst seat in the house: middle aisle right in front of the projector.  I couldn’t even stretch my [...]

Sitting in the Airport Terminal…

My plane leaves in less than an hour and I can’t help but think that I should be feeling something…  I have no idea what this feeling should be, but I know something should be there.  I guess this trip hasn’t hit me yet…
I’m treating these next four months in England just like any other [...]

T minus 7 hours until my plane leaves…

4A is Officially Done

I’m so motivated to come back in the fall and destroy my courses.
Should be good times.

Facebook : Personal Content = Google : Everything Else

Facebook appears to have aspirations of becoming the Internet’s premier personal content portal, so who am I to stand in their way?
After much deliberation, I finally added my blog’s RSS feed to my Facebook profile.
*Raise your glasses* Here’s to an increase in my readership (and hopefully the number of comments made)… Cheers!

Math Elective aren’t fun…

[SivjiNote: This post is to remind me to never do a class that I don't need or won't enjoy...]
…especially STAT 330: Mathematical Statistics.  I have no idea how I convinced myself that doing a theory-based Stats course would be useful, but I drank that kool-aid and ate the bowl.
Well, I’ve ventured far enough into this [...]

Countdown has begun

Eight days until exams are done… twelve days until I’m off to London.
In other news, Barclays appears to have some competition in its bid to acquire ABN AMRO.  Should be an interesting battle, regardless of the outcome.  Everytime I read an article on the propose merger and the competition that is expected, I get reminded [...]

Saying goodbye to the horrendous WordPress console

I downloaded Windows Live Writer (Beta) and I am thoroughly impressed.
After a quick installation, I just entered my blog address, login, and password and was off an running as Writer detected the WordPress API and created a profile for me.
I can now easily update my website using a WYSIWYG editor that has a spell check included.  Thanks, [...]
