Europe get ready… Sivji is coming!
UW’s co-op system finally came through for me as I landed an offer for what can only be described as my dream job. I will be heading “cross the pond” to work for an investment bank in London as a Fixed Income Trading Intern. I’m gonna try to leverage this four month co-op into a full-time offer so I’ve already starting to read about the industry as I want to hit the ground running.
I’m really excited since, well, England for 4 months!!! I’m already making a list of places I want to visit, things I want to do, and music festivals I want to see. I also have a tentative list of people who will be coming to visit so that should be really fun; the list is currently at 9 people so if you want to come down and see me, let me know and we’ll set it up.
This experience should be great personally, professionally, and blog-ically (since I might finally start living a more exciting life and thus have more exciting posts). I’m really looking forward to seeing how I handle the challenge of moving 6000km away. I look forward to learning more about myself.
To do list
- Buy laptop (leaning towards a Dell Inspiron 6400 which I will probably try to haggle down sometime before Dell’s quarter ends)
- Find a place to live (London seems to be very expensive so finding a decent place for a decent price might be hard. A friend of a friend is currently there on coop so I might just try to get his place.)
- Buy tickets to see The Who (I’m leaning towards getting some front row seats, but they’re gonna set me back a pretty penny… I hate converting stuff to dollars from pounds because things are a lot more expensive than they appear.)
- Set up a pictures sub-domain on my site since Flikr isn’t that great (Plus, 2TB of bandwidth should be more than enough to handle my 4 visitors…)
- Study for midterms and finals… I must destroy this term.
